To enhance health and safety compliance, a European airline sought to create a gamified mobile app for pilots to take a fatigue test before flying. The traditional paper-based fatigue test was insufficient, as it did not evaluate critical factors such as reflexes, attention, memory, and reaction time—elements essential for ensuring pilot safety. The client aimed to digitize this test and gamify the experience, enabling the airline to track pilots' fatigue levels more effectively and collect valuable analytics for better decision-making.
The existing paper-based fatigue test for pilots lacked the ability to measure important cognitive functions necessary for safe flying. This limitation posed potential safety risks and did not provide the airline with sufficient data to assess pilot fatigue in a comprehensive manner. There was a clear need for a digital solution that could evaluate pilots' mental readiness through engaging and interactive methods, allowing for real-time data analysis.
