CityShob: IoT Analytics Platform Development for Smart Cities

With the increasing complexity of managing diverse city assets and a growing demand for advanced analytics, CityShob recognized the need to evolve its IoT analytics platform. The challenges were:

• Incorporating new functionalities to meet emerging demands;
• Optimizing the platform efficiency for seamless city-wide asset management;
• Addressing existing technical debt accrued over previous development cycles.

The platform was developed a long time ago, so they also needed new technology enhancements and platform upgrades and refactoring. This is why CityShob started looking for smart city companies having experience with IoT development, custom API integrations, as well as a list of case studies in software outsourcing industry.

Milies partnered with CityShob by providing a team of seasoned software developers who have had experience working on IoT development, smart city solutions, as well as license plate recognition (LPR) system development. To provide a seamless and intuitive experience, our software team joined forces with CityShob to create a system for city asset management, working on both new functionality development, as well as conducting the maintenance and support of the current functionalities.

The Milies team assessed existing technical debt accumulated over previous development cycles. To ensure a clean and maintainable codebase, we took part in refactoring and rewriting some parts of the smart city platform. This proactive approach improved the overall reliability of the smart mobility solutions and set the stage for more streamlined future development.

We have introduced new features to improve LPR solution, data management, Big Data analytics, and advanced analytics capabilities, such as real-time monitoring and better visualization tools.

Milies team also worked on the C-Share mobile app development project, which is an application that enables citizens to report “SOS” alerts direct to emergency and municipality agencies via their smartphone and municipalities to communicate emergency information with citizens:

• “SOS” alerts reporting to emergency and municipality agencies;
• Encrypted communication system development – Text, Picture, Video and Voice.

Another project we participated in is the C-React app development, which is for:

• Responding faster and smarter to incidents;
• Sharing information with other departments and agencies for better cooperation, coordination and collaboration;
• Gaining accurate situational awareness;
• Being more prepared before arriving at the crime scene;
• Spending more time on patrol without having to return to the station;
• Tracking location of responders, as with AVLS.

Through the strategic integration of big data analytics, advanced technology, and Internet of Things (IoT) connected devices, we have developed comprehensive solutions tailored to address several pivotal tasks for urban environments.
