E-commerce shopping is already at its peak, and still, there is a lot to come. To tap on such an opportunity, Instagram has started working on a new standalone app that will let users shop from that app directly.
As per the report, Instagram may name the standalone app IG Shopping. Engaging with this app will help the users to browse through all the collections of the brands and stores that they follow, and from there only, the user will purchase them directly.
The piece of information was passed on by sources to The Verge. However, there is no word from the company’s end about the upcoming IG Shopping app. Also, the launch of the app is not known yet, but the Instagram e-commerce app is speculated in the development process.
If we take a look at the total number of business accounts on Instagram, it stands to be 25 million, and advertisers account for 2 million of the total business accounts. The stats were made public by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's Chief Operating Officer. Of every five Instagram users, four follow at least one business.
So, if we go by these stats, Instagram can make the most out of the IG Shopping app. It will also act as a dedicated platform for the social media giant to get itself involved in the e-commerce business and the add-on in the revenue will be another perk.
Earlier also, Instagram launched the IGTV app, which enabled the users to watch long-form vertical videos from the top Instagram creators. Hence, the tools like IGTV app and Instagram Shopping App will also assist the merchants, brands, and business to expand their reach on one of the best social media platforms.
Many online business retailers already use Instagram to promote and advertise their product on social media and now, the IG Shopping app will be shot in the arm for such industry verticals.
