Zoom rolled out a new feature on Monday to enhance workplace collaboration and share document work on the platform during meetings.
Zoom is one of the most used online meeting and collaboration tools for businesses of all sizes. The tech giant is bringing a major update that enhances workplace collaboration during online meetings. The freshly rolled-out feature is part of its AI expansion plan and allows the creation and sharing of files during online meetings.
With Zoom Docs, users can share files with certain or all participants of a meeting. The feature uses generative AI to help users jot down or edit the content in a document together. Zoom announced the launch of this feature during its annual Zoomtopia event last year. After almost a year of utter silence, the video-calling platform silently introduced the new feature to its global community.
The Docs feature is a built-in function that works with AI Companion to perform various functions. Users can prompt the AI Companion to organise meeting transcripts, make tables, draw up checklists, as well as track processes and tasks that were assigned in the meeting.

Workplace collaboration tools are rapidly integrating AI capabilities to enhance end-consumer features and offer advanced collaboration functionalities at ease. With this feature update, Zoom is quickly catching up with the big tech players like Google and Microsoft, who already offer similar capabilities. Google Workspace and Microsoft Teams are the current market leaders in online meetings and collaborative teamwork platforms.
