Elon Musk’s parent company of famous social media platform, X, is planning to launch an exclusive TV app for streaming videos.
X, the social media platform Elon Musk owns, is venturing into a new device category. The tech giant is planning to launch an exclusive X TV app, expanding from small-screen audiences to large-screen viewers. X CEO Linda Yaccarino officially announced the app launch on Tuesday, stating that it will bring real-time, engaging content to smart TVs.
The interface of the new X streaming app resembles that of YouTube, as one can observe in the teaser video shared by Yaccarino. The app will feature an engaging interface that segregates all videos seamlessly. One key feature of the X TV app is the exhaustive video algorithm designed to keep users updated through tailored content.
Along with the AI-powered that sorts videos by subject, the company aims to build a robust video search. The app will also allow cross-device viewing, meaning users can watch a video on their phone and cast it to the TV as well.
From the small screen to the big screen X is changing everything. Soon we’ll bring real-time, engaging content to your smart TVs with the X TV App. This will be your go-to companion for a high-quality, immersive entertainment experience on a larger screen. The upcoming launch underscores Yaccarino’s vision and contributions to transforming its social media site into a free-speech platform with a video-first approach. The social media streaming platform currently features an original show hosted by former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard and another by former Fox Sports host Jim Rome. Elon Musk canceled a deal he almost shook hands on with CNN to stream their shows on the platform.
Musk’s entry into social media last year and video streaming this year will be some of the most impactful business pivots witnesses so far. The adoption of Television smart devices is increasing, leaving a huge market to tap into and be profitable from. The announcement, surprisingly, came a week later, announcing Donald Trump’s similar plans to launch a television streaming app. This may mean that the X TV app will have to move early to gain a competitive edge over his venture.
