WhatsApp is testing a new voice-sharing feature with its latest Meta AI chatbot integration to enhance user interaction and AI experience.
WhatsApp introduced Meta AI to its application in 2024’s first quarter, and the AI features are gaining popularity faster than any of its competitors. To maintain the streak, WhatsApp has been rolling out new AI features in the Beta versions to test reliability, feasibility, and security before launching the features for the general public. In its latest test run, WhatsApp has introduced voice-sharing with the Meta AI chatbot.
The latest voice feature is rolled out for select WhatsApp Beta version 2.24.16.10 users. The latest AI feature promises to empower user interactions with the AI chatbot and enhance user capabilities to do more without leaving the application. This effort is in line with WhatsApp’s core reason for introducing Meta AI to the platform. Voice commands take user comfort to the next level by minimizing the need to type during interactions with the AI chatbot.
The voice-based commands can be accessed through a new button added to share voice messages with the Meta AI chatbot. According to WhatsApp, the voice feature can accurately understand user queries in multiple languages, capture the intent, and even ask more questions to achieve the desired clarity. It can also be interrupted in the middle of an output to add more layers, refine the output, or ask for something entirely new.
It is not clear if the AI chatbot can cater to regional language users in India. The official Meta AI chatbot works fine with over 22 international languages, including Hindi, English, German, French, and Italian. Facilitating a more natural and efficient way to communicate with AI can help Meta increase consumers' overall engagement with its AI services.
WhatsApp is also working on a new AI feature that allows the AI chatbot to reply to photos. The feature may also allow image editing through command prompts. Through this, WhatsApp users can ask questions about the image content, edit backgrounds, search the internet for objects in the image, and much more directly in the chat window. With these engagement enhancing efforts, WhatsApp is on the fast lane to establish its leadership among the best social media apps.
