WhatsApp has again become the complete video calling package application after introducing screen sharing as its latest feature.
Meta has always been a leader in its game, with the latest features that take on multiple competitors. This time, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has challenged formal video calling applications like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Meet, and even Apple’s FaceTime with its latest screen-sharing feature.
Zuckerberg announced today's latest screen-sharing feature through a Facebook post and his own Instagram channel. This feature will allow you to share photos, videos, documents, and even your shopping cart with all the contacts on the video call. Users can also choose between sharing a particular app or their entire screen with the people on the video call.
How To Use Screen Sharing On WhatsApp
The newly introduced feature has been actively used and tested by the Beta testers since May of 2023. Similar functions will also be used to access this feature in the commercial version of the update. All you need to do is:
- Tap the share icon
- Choose a specific app you want to share or give access to your entire screen
- When done, tap the stop sharing button

WhatsApp has also rolled out a new video calling mode called The Landscape Mode. Users can switch to a landscape view in this update for an even more immersive experience. This update is an add-on that WhatsApp users get, but the actual purpose of this feature was to support the video calling experience that traditional applications like Zoom and Google Meet offered.

The latest updates are being rolled out in a phased manner but is getting integrated across all Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop versions of WhatsApp. So, if you cannot see and try these cool updates right now, don’t worry; they will be available soon on your phone’s compatible version as well.
Since November 2016, video calling has been the most used feature on WhatsApp. And after 7 years, WhatsApp is still exploring ways to enhance the video experience on its application.
Recently, it also rolled out short video messages in chats that gave users an experience similar to what they regularly consume on other social media apps. Even Apple released the native screen-sharing feature, ' Shareplay, ' which only allowed iOS users. WhatsApp’s version is extended further as it will enable Android, iOS, and desktop devices to connect over video calls and share their screens.
