WhatsApp is reportedly planning to transform the badge color of its verified profiles from green to blue to synchronize recognition across platforms.
Meta is bringing all its platforms to the same page in terms of service capabilities, visual appeal, and overall engagement. According to an online report by a media house, the tech giant is planning to create a singular profile verification badge across platforms. Aligned with this effort, WhatsApp may reportedly change its verified profiles’ green badge to blue. This change is applicable to both individuals and businesses.
The meta-owned platform has released a new beta version for select iPhone users, bringing the app’s version to 24.16.10.72. The new test version is also available for beta testers. The social messaging app is also testing the feature for Android users but with a close-knit group of testers. These efforts aim to standardize the appearance of key identification factors like the verification badge across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the new verification check for WhatsApp in June and soon made it available to some businesses in certain markets. Unlike Meta’s other platforms, the verification badge on WhatsApp is primarily used to improve brand recognition and authenticity for businesses.
According to the report, some users outside the beta testing community also saw the new blue badges on their followed business profiles. These users had installed the latest version update of WhatsApp, available through the App and Play Store.
Internal sources have confirmed that the social messaging platform will roll out the new badge color gradually to all devices in the coming weeks, including Android, iOS, and computer systems. iOS users who want to see the recent changes in the version update can download it from the Testflight app.
WhatsApp is rapidly bringing new features and integrations to centralize the whole Meta ecosystem. From account management to visual appearance, every aspect of Meta’s apps will soon become similar looking, and may offer a standardizes user experience.
