Uber India has rolled out a new feature that allows users to book up to three trips at once, expanding its customer capture strategy per account.
The ride-hailing industry is reaching a saturation point in terms of service offerings and technology innovation. After all, not much can be done for a service that helps a traveler reach one point to another. Surprisingly, Uber India has rolled out a first-ever feature that is breaking the saturation and expanding revenue opportunities while offering a new experience to its consumers.
Uber India is rolling out a new feature that allows its users to book up to three rides from the same account at the same time. This strategic introduction will help official account holders provide cab-booking support to non-Uber riders or people without smartphones. The newly launched feature is called Concurrent Rides and even allows cash or Pay At Destination options.
“As we understand that one may need to book a ride for their loved one at the same time as they are in an Uber — we launched concurrent rides late last year globally. It allows riders to book and track up to three concurrent rides.”

Uber is not introducing a new feature as an organization. The app has silently rolled out the Concurrent Rides feature in other global markets, including the US. After experiencing a high success rate, Uber has rolled out the feature in India, but this time, it is not silent.
This will allow Uber users to provide emergency aid to strangers as well, but it may come with a risk of non-payment or inappropriate conduct during the ride. The risk of allowing other people to ride using their account lies on the account holder’s end, and due caution is advised by Uber beforehand.
Ola Cabs also allows two concurrent rides at the same time, but it comes with a financial catch. Users cannot book multiple rides using the same payment method, which makes the transaction somewhat difficult for people with fewer payment options. Users can also choose to pay for their ride in cash mode or online upon reaching the destination. Uber does not have these limitations for now, but it is not clear if it will in the future as well.
