Twitter, now called X, is moving beyond being just an informal social media platform. Elon Musk is testing a hiring feature that will be cooler than LinkedIn.
X, formerly known as Twitter, has gone through abrupt and dramatic changes ever since Elon Musk took over as its CEO. This time, Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday about a new feature that will take over LinkedIn’s popularity as a professional networking platform.
X is testing its job posting feature, which will later evolve into a full-fledged job networking platform where both job seekers and employers can interact in a way much cooler than LinkedIn.
People send me LinkedIn links sometimes, but the cringe level is so high that I just can't bring myself to use it, so I ask for the resume or bio to be emailed!

For now, the job posting feature is unlocked only for verified businesses, and that too for a monthly subscription fee of $1,000. All of this was revealed after Elon Musk started tweeting about the Microsoft-owned LinkedIn platform in a blunt and aggressive form. He said, “We will make sure that the X competitor to LinkedIn is cool.” to a comment made by a Twitter user that said, “Is there anything worse than LinkedIn?”
All the verified businesses on X that pay a premium of $1,000 will now be able to use the latest job posting feature. Multiple organizations have already started posting their job requirements on X, expecting a much higher organic reach and engagement than they would get on LinkedIn, especially as an early advantage. Each organization can post up to 5 jobs on their profile.
Elon Musk has announced on his platform X that the new job-related features will keep adding onto themselves. Soon, the platform will roll out a job search feature for the general public to start looking for jobs on X itself. Considering how X has tried to overpower other platforms in the past, the story here might be similar. But LinkedIn has a strong following and a long user retention pipeline.
LinkedIn's current active user count for job seekers is 52 Million, but job seekers will always be quick to move to a platform that gives them a better advantage. If you want to see the job postings, go to a verified business account on X and check the section below the follower count. You will find their jobs posted with a direct link to apply to them.
Now, it is on the capability of X to offer a more comfortable, hassle-free, and successful user experience to its job seekers and employers if it wants to take over LinkedIn’s stature.
