Spotify CEO Confirms A Deluxe Version Is Coming Soon

Date: July 24, 2024

Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek has made shocking revelations regarding an announcement his company made nearly 3 years ago.

The recent changes in Spotify have made its audience more skeptical about the platform rather than attracting it. From high premium subscription prices to almost no app control for free users, the platform has lost to its competitors. One announcement that the company made 3 years ago was the introduction of a deluxe subscription plan that gave maximum control to users.

Spotify’s CEO, Daniel Ek, recently revealed that the proposed deluxe version will soon launch after a long waiting period of three years. His announcement sounds more like a teaser than something with actual useful information regarding a fixed timeline. However, Ek has revealed some of the key features of Spotify’s Deluxe subscription that may bring back the loyal customer base it lost due to the past few modifications.

The new deluxe Spotify subscription is called HiFi, and it will be starkly better than the premium version. HiFi Spotify will give consumers complete control of the app’s usage, add a layer of AI-generated playlists, and enable higher-quality audio output.

“The plan here is to offer much a much better version of Spotify. Think something like $5 above the current premium tier. So it’s probably around a $17 or $18 price point, but sort of a deluxe version of Spotify that has all of the benefits that the normal Spotify version has, but a lot more control, a lot higher quality across the board, and some other things that I’m not ready to talk about just yet.” said Daniel Ek. For those who want to know, this announcement was first made nearly 1248 days ago without any hint of action on the same.

The proposed pricing will be nearly $5 above Spotify Premium, aiming to push the premium subscribers towards a more deluxe experience. Back when Apple and Amazon started offering better audio quality and media playback controls without paid plans, Spotify’s age-old loyalty took a toll. With this move, Spotify may be able to spring back into action without incurring losses, something that its rivals are already coping with other revenue streams.
