OpenAI has ramped up its enterprise AI solutions by acquiring multiple startups offering remote collaboration for teams.
For over a year, OpenAI has been the preferred generative AI platform for individuals, startups, and enterprises. According to some reports, the company's revenue has skyrocketed to reach $3.8 billion. While the AI tech giant’s hero product, ChatGPT, has a wide range of use cases, the company seems to be increasing its focus on adding enterprise features.
OpenAI has recently acquired multiple tech startups providing solutions to enterprises. Last week, the company acquired Rockset, a database tech firm that builds tools to drive real-time search and data analytics. Days after, OpenAI acquired another tech startup, Multi, formerly known as Remotion, which provides remote collaboration solutions to enterprises.
Multi was founded by Alexander Embiricos with a team of five people. They will now join OpenAI to continue the product’s integration and growth within the OpenAI ecosystem. Multi, as an individual product, is scheduled to shut down on Jul 24, 2024.
“We’re beyond excited to share that Multi is joining OpenAI. Thank you to everybody who used Multi. It was a privilege building with you, and we learned a ton from you.” said Alexander in an official blog post announcement.
Multi’s co-founder and ex-Google Software Engineer, Charlie Ho, expressed his views on the X platform.

To everyone who used Multi, submitted feedback and offered feature suggestions, Thank You. https://t.co/KU0AroW1tQ
Multi is an impressive remote collaboration tool that helps enterprise teams collaborate across screen shares from up to 10 people simultaneously. It also provides customizable shortcuts and automatic deep links for code, designs, and documents. Multi has raised $13 million in VC funding from top firms like Greylock and First Round Capital.
OpenAI’s recent acquisition aligns with the recent data it revealed around ChatGPT’s Corporate absorption. According to the report, ChatGPT Enterprise has gained over 600,000 users, over 93% of whom are from Fortune 500 firms.
