TikTok is making its way into cars with Mercedes-Benz's updated MBUX infotainment system, which will allow drivers to watch videos when vehicle is parked.
The updated MBUX infotainment system will feature a "superscreen" that spans the entire dashboard, allowing drivers to access the TikTok app and watch videos while parked.
Passengers will also be able to get in on the action with access to a portion of the screen located directly in front of them. This move by Mercedes highlights their interest and presence in the Chinese market, where TikTok is highly relevant and popular among younger generations.
Along with TikTok, the new system will also offer Zoom video conferencing, Angry Birds, Vivaldi web browser, and Webex by Cisco apps, with more to come via over-the-air software updates.
Mercedes has also created a new software architecture to integrate third-party apps and has a new app store, accessed through the Mercedes me app. This announcement was made at the automaker's research and development center in Sunnyvale, California, along with other exciting updates, such as their long-term partnership with Google and the reveal of their own operating system called MB.OS.
Stay tuned for more updates on the future of transportation technology!
