Google to deploy Artificial Intelligence in order to improve Allo, the messenger bot.
Allo, the Google Chatbot, an honoree of the 2017 Innovation By Design Awards is about to redefine the realm of chat applications. The company is working to use machine learning and Artificial intelligence combinedly to make Google Allo a chatting app, one of its kind.
“Our phones are basically chat machines at this point. That’s the dominant activity that virtually everyone does on their phone,” says Jason Cornwell, the head of user interface team for Allo.
Elaborating further, Jason explains, texting apps are designed for the inveritable comfort of the user. A space where the user can relax with their expressions, make auto correct errors and be dumb unlike the meticulous approach taken towards one’s Twitter and Linkedin activities that showcase your public life. Texting whereas is all about communicating and sharing information, rely on autocorrect for spelling errors and sometimes replace words with pictures and emojis to get the message across.
Google Allo is not only embedded with the machine learning to provide smart assistance to the users, the chatbot will also entail support of AI. In view of Google’s latest strategies, Sundar Pichai (CEO) aim to to make Google the “First AI” company, reinventing messenger applications with AI. Currently, automated suggestions and replies are already available for the users, but the fusion of AI and machine learning will expand the potential of messenger apps to a whole new level. Allo automatically learns how you are interacting with every contact and understand your behavior. On the basis of its computation it will suggest you the most appropriate, smart and quick replies, depending upon the conversation, you are in.
The most interesting outcome of the AI and machine learning joint action is the evolution of the Google Allo as a personal assistant that you can interact to more casually. “We found that when people were first using the assistant, they would structure their questions very specifically to get the exact answer they wanted, similar to how you type a query in Google search. But we wanted to help people learn not only the types of questions they could ask but also [how to] speak more conversationally with their assistant” Cornell said.
Bitmoji- the third party avatar emoji app is a key integration in this process. With features like these Google wants to not simple give the best but make digital messaging much more personalised while one is interacting with the app. Artificial Intelligence has recently been a point of discussion as top tech leaders have distinct opinions about its future.
