Google Launches AI Editor In Android & iOS Photos App

Date: September 25, 2024

Google has rolled out a new AI preset for video editing within the Photos app on Android and iOS devices, reducing dependency on external editors.

An ever-growing struggle for both Android and iOS users worldwide is the lack of free video editing applications. The latest apps available with advanced features have put either a mandatory watermark or a payment gateway to unlock them. To help its community meet general-purpose video editing needs, Google has silently rolled out some powerful new features in the Photos app.

Google is updating the mobile video editor in the Photos app for Android and iOS users worldwide. The new upgrade began rolling out today and may take some time to reflect on all mobile devices.

The new video editing features are AI-powered and allow changes with a single tap. All the new features are silently added to the Presets section in the Photos App. The new editing capabilities include a Speed tool for slowing down or speeding up the videos. The renewed auto-enhance button does much more than just basic color correction now. It improves color and stability while maintaining the original contrasts of the footage.

An updated trimming tool has also been added, giving more freedom to trim the clips, along with a new auto-trim feature. The tools are located right below the video timeline to provide easier access and quick navigation for commonly used features like mute, enhance, stabilize, and export frame.

The role of AI in these features helps users get a higher output quality in minimum input. The newly introduced Artificial Intelligence acts on the intent of the user captured through the buttons being used. With AI, controlling speed, adjusting the lighting, and tracking dynamic motion becomes extremely easy. The AI tools are kept in a separate section next to the standard editing features.

This strategic move by Google can help the legacy Photos App rank higher among some of the best video editing apps available for free. The new features will cater to almost every need of the general masses while working as a better on-the-go support function for professional editors.
