Google has finally finished rolling out its 19-day-long core update for August, and the impact may lead to significant rank shifts in websites.
One of the many things that Search Engine Optimization teams struggle with is the core update at Google. Almost every time Google comes up with a core update, it reshuffles the rankings and visibility of websites across the globe. With the Google August Core Update, a similar scenario may emerge.
Google’s August core update has finally finished its 19-day-long rollout. “This update is designed to continue our work to improve the quality of our search results by showing more content that people find genuinely useful and less content that feels like it was made just to perform well on Search.” said the company in its official release note.
The new update takes into account the feedback Google received from some creators and others over the past few months. The main purpose of the update is to connect people with a range of high-quality websites, including small and independent ones that focus on creating useful, original content that is relevant to user searches. Google has also declared that it will continue to address this issue in future updates.
All the websites experiencing a drop in ranking or traffic over the last 19-20 days should neither panic nor hurry into remedial action. Google has notified website owners that fluctuations that coincide with the core update period should be assessed thoroughly on the Google Search Console.
If the content matches Google’s intent to push useful and original information to users, the ranking will spring back to normal or may not be impacted at all. The websites impacted by the Google August Core update may have to wait longer even if they execute recovery strategies immediately, probably until the next update rolls out.
Google continually brings significant, broad changes to its search algorithms and systems several times a year. It is important to make content originality, usefulness, and relevance a top priority for SEO teams, along with investing in only the best SEO tools to prevent any negative impact from such core updates.
