Google has made a game-changing move for its paid workspace community by introducing an AI image generator directly in Google Docs.
Google Workspace is getting a big ramp-up that will make the content creation process faster, easier, and instantly visually appealing. Google is rolling out an AI-powered image generator directly in Google Docs for paid Google Workspace users, including Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium add-ons.
The newly introduced AI feature is powered by the Imagen3 generator that Google promises to be advanced in providing better detail, richer lighting, and fewer distracting artifacts. This move marks Microsoft’s recent addition of AI-generated art features across its Office products.
The AI image generator can be accessed in the Google Docs menu bar under Insert > Image > Help me create an image. This opens a ‘Create an Image’ sidebar where users can type the description of the image they want to generate along with aspect ratios and art styles. The aspect ratios and art styles can be selected through a drop-down menu in the sidebar with options such as photography or sketch.
Users can choose from square, horizontal, and vertical aspect ratios to find the best fit for the type of content they create. The AI-generated images are essentially clipart but with superior lighting, crisper details, and fewer background distractions to help bring the message out clearly.
Starting today, the ‘Create an Image’ AI feature will first roll out to rapid-release schedule domains and may take up to 15 days to appear in all respective domains. Domains listed in scheduled release plans will start receiving the update from December 16th onwards. The feature will not be made available to generic and unpaid Google Office Suite users anytime soon.
Last year, Google launched a built-in presentation slide generator in Google Slides powered by its flagship Clippy-Like and Duet AI tools. The integration of AI-powered support features throughout the year has sustained success, indicating a strong vision of the company backed by adequate market understanding.
