Former OpenAI Scientist Launches Eureka AI Education Platform

Former OpenAI Scientist Launches Eureka AI Education Platform

Date: July 17, 2024

Andrej Karpathy was a research leader at OpenAI and led Tesla’s automation technology development.

Since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, the generative AI boom has engulfed almost every sector in the world. The education sector has utilized AI's end benefits to enhance digital learning content. Andrej Karpathy, a former OpenAI and Tesla Scientist has chosen to divert his passion toward helping the younger generation gain digital learning skills with AI.

Andrej, the renowned researcher and scientist, has poured his knowledge of automation and AI into starting the Eureka Labs platform. Here, teachers can design their own course while an AI assistant guides students through the learning material, practice tests, and much more. A recent post on X confirmed the end goal of the AI education platform, but it did not reveal many details.

The company’s first production is the LLM101n, which it claims is the world’s best AI course. It is an undergraduate-level class that teaches students how to train their own AI. The course is a smaller version of the AI teaching assistant itself. The course will be majorly propagated digitally. However, physical cohorts will also be selected to conduct offline classes for the program.

“This Teacher + AI symbiosis could run an entire curriculum of courses on a common platform. If we are successful, it will be easy for anyone to learn anything, expanding education in both reach (a large number of people learning something) and extent (any one person learning a large amount of subjects, beyond what may be possible today unassisted),” said the official statement on Eureka Labs website.

This is just the first introduction of Eureka Labs, and many more are in the pipeline. Based on the traction and success of the LLM101n, more courses will be introduced aimed at building sustainable AI as a key technology to increase human potential. A comprehensive guide on Building an OpenAI GPT model is available right now for free, which acts as the basic framework for learning the functions of AI chatbots.
