Should "comment a memory" meme on Facebook be replaced with HBD
Wishing your friends on their birthdays, anniversaries or on any special occasion has now confined to the posts of Facebook only. And, the giant social networking site has now led to shrinking these messages to generic wishes. Well, it is not Facebook’s fault, the site gives us the opportunity and a comment box that could be filled up with any kind of wishes the users want.
A number of people have similar responses on Facebook destroying the meaning of friendship. For a number of people, the tons of messages they receive on their walls is not a thing to like. And, to avoid the same, people go as far as to change their date of birthday or close their walls to avoid these countless notifications. Nevertheless, people wish their friends and pals with just "Happy Birthday" or "HBD" but for some, these are annoying too.
For the same reason, the latest Facebook status meme going around should be used for birthday messages. As the latest craze on Facebook these days, a number of people have copy pasted the content reading - "If you’re reading this, even if we barely talk, comment a memory of us. After, make this your status because you’d be surprised the memories people hold of you."
No doubt the attempt is a great move to read about the memories people hold for their friends but it feels a bit extra to get notifications from those whom you do not share a very good connection with. Well, Facebook has recently advised business page admins not to add any such comments in their Facebook post as it tricks the algorithm to think a post is more important than it actually is.
There is no point in advising people to pick any of their memories for other individuals. Rather, it will be great to set them free to see the posts from those who genuinely care for them.
