ChatGPT recently announced multiple new updates, including the launch of its flagship conversational AI model and a new rectangle in a black circle interface.
With advancements in its feature offerings, any tech giant that has ever come into this world has always bent towards a cleaner and minimalist user interface. The main reason behind this upgrade pattern is the reduced distractions that were once used to compensate for the lack of feature advancements. The perfect balance between UI and features always breaks as functionalities become more advanced. Such is the case of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which renewed its user interface along with multiple flagship upgrades.
ChatGPT will now have a simple user interface that looks like a black circle, dot, or anything a user may want to comprehend from the visual. Let’s assume that it looks like a black hole that keeps absorbing infinite knowledge, only limited by the server capacities of OpenAI. Its Chief Technical Officer, Mira Murati, said during the OpenAI Spring event, “CTO Mira Murati alluded to the changes: “We know that these models get more and more complex, but we want the experience of interaction to actually become more natural, easy, and for you not to focus on the UI at all.”
In simple words, the new face of ChatGPT is a black dot in a rectangular frame. The dot is huge enough to become anything users may want to imagine it as, but it keeps the basic visual experience minimal. In one sense, the new simpler UI is a positive move that Apple has always mastered in its upgrade methodologies.
The Black dot is not stationary, though. When the AI chatbot speaks, the black dot converts into a circular waveform. When it comes to the voice of the AI chatbot, it may feel uncomfortable enough to see the voice mimic human tones and expressions, guessing from the type of prompt and its respective response. This phenomenon is widely known as Pseudonthropy, the effort of resembling or producing natural human emotions through Artificial Intelligence. Many agencies around the world are against these developments as a measure to safeguard the critical and unique traits of humans that keep them at an advantage over AI. For now, the voice of ChatGPT’s black hole does not come with an AI face to add to the uncomfortable undertone of the interaction.
