OpenAI is launching the ChatGPT advanced voice mode in a limited alpha to a select group of users in the US and other English-speaking markets.
The AI industry is resurfacing in major news headlines due to similar upgrade activity among all big players. One of them is OpenAI, which has had a positive update after being in the controversial limelight for a long time. According to a leaked mail communication from OpenAI to a user, ChatGPT advanced voice mode will begin rolling out to select alpha users today.
The leaked message was posted on X.com, confirming the launch of ChatGPT's advanced voice mode. The new AI voice mode is still in the test phase and will first be available for ChatGPT Plus users. The exercise will be limited to major English-speaking markets, beginning with the US.
OpenAI has filtered criteria even among the ChatGPT Plus subscriber community. According to the communication shared, certain indicators increase the chance of getting the latest updates first. As the message states, the criteria to be eligible for the Alpha program “will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to participation invitations and the specific criteria set for the alpha testing phase.”
Invites to join and upgrade the existing systems will be shared via Email and app notifications. The company also softly announced the final launch of Advanced voice mode to all ChatGPT plus subscribers by next fall. This confirms OpenAI's ambitious goal of launching stable voice modes for all users by next year.
Along with OpenAI, Google Gemini and Meta AI are also bringing voice mode features to a similar timeline. Google Gemini’s Live AI now comes in ten more styles inspired by global stars. Meta AI has signed deals with John Cena, Judi Dench, and Kristen Bell to make their voices available as AI assistants for its users across platforms. The company may soon add more celebrities to the voice library to enhance engagement and overall user experience.
The demand for conversational AI chatbots is growing rapidly, and most big tech players are struggling hard to stay ahead of the competition. From using various celebrity voices to ensuring a seamless conversation, with instant interruptions to the AI’s output, the voice mode is set to become the next big thing in the AI industry.
