Try it for free' section allows the iOS users to try the paid apps for free
Apple has added a new section to the App Store for its users to highlight the apps with free trials for the users. The tech giant has added a new section to the App Store for listing the paid apps providing free trails to the users. The section named, ‘Try it for free’ will show the apps with a free trial and enable the user to test the app before they pay for the app subscription. You will find the app with their subscription-based amount and the limited trial period offer to see how the apps work.
The section currently shows four subscription-based apps offering free trials in the App Store. First, you need to open the Apple’s App Store on your device, then tap the apps option and then you will see the ‘Try it for free’ section on your screen. You will find four apps for now, in the section including 1Password, USA Today, Lake Coloring Books and Panna: Videos Recipes & Classes. The annual membership for 1Password will cost $35.99 to the users, for a monthly subscription of USA Today users needs to pay $2.99, a subscription to Panna for a year will cost $71.99 and a weekly subscription to Lake app will be $2.99 for the users. However, there is no specific section or category dedicated differentiating the weekly, monthly, annual subscription plans, so you need to be careful while choosing one. However, the trial period is different for every app, some may give you a free trial while others may ask to pay for the service first in order to enjoy the free trial.
After Apple launched the new subscription-based business model for developers this step will help in promoting the business. Under the system, Apple offers the App with weekly, monthly and annual based subscription models for the developers. There is also an auto-renewable subscription that will renew the subscription itself after the subscriptions get expired and until a user decides to cancel it. Apple also assured the developers that the revenue system of the subscription-based business produces revenue differently. Within the first year of the customer’s subscription, the developers will get 70% of the subscription price and the rest will go to Apple. After one year of customers paid service, the revenue of the app will increase to 85% for the developers and 15% will be an applicable tax deduction.
With the launch of iOS 11, Apple has revamped the App Store and making it more open for monetizing purpose. Adding a dedicated section to share editor’s choice and display the top-ranked apps in App Store helped a lot Apple in making a huge revenue till now. The subscription-based model will surely add more money to the Apple’s pocket and also help the developers in extracting more revenue from their apps.
