Apple has officially announced the iOS 18.1 Beta 3 release date with its key Apple Intelligence features, including writing tools and more.
It feels like a long time has passed since Apple started talking about bringing its Apple Intelligence features to its global consumer base. With every new event, the final launch date of Apple Intelligence kept pushing ahead and kept bringing down the excitement level of Apple fans. To our relief, Apple has finally announced the iOS 18.1 Beta 3 release date, accompanied by multiple Apple Intelligence features.
All iOS 18 eligible devices will be able to update to the latest iOS 18.1 beta 3 version, if they have opted for Apple’s Beta program. The iOS 18.1 Beta 3 version will act as an introductory platform to start bringing Apple Intelligence to compatible devices and gather real-world user feedback.
The AI features coming with iOS 18.1 include writing tools, Focus Mode to reduce interruptions, and notification summaries. The AI will be fully on-device in nature and require a minimum of M1 chips to perform. Apple has not responded to multiple media houses’ requests regarding bringing some or any Apple Intelligence features to models previous to iPhone 16.
It is important to note that Apple will not launch Apple Intelligence in the first public release version of iOS 18. Apple’s latest mobile series, iPhone 16, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, are set to launch next Friday. Users can begin pre-ordering the new Apple Intelligence-compatible devices from September 13th onwards.
Apple will also make the iPhone 16 review models available to content creators, testers, and media sites, running on the default iOS 18 version. However, they can upgrade to the iOS 18.1 Beta 3 version to review the AI features. In this scenario, transferring backup data to new devices will be a challenge as both devices need to run the same iOS version.
Even though iOS 18 will launch on Monday, the iOS 18.1 stable version will continue to be in the testing phase for several weeks. Due to this continuous delay in the release of a stable version equipped with Apple Intelligence features, advanced Android devices are gaining momentum as they can already run the top AI apps available for public use.
